Delaware Flymph

Delaware Flymph

Hook - Wet fly

Thread - Orange

Ribbing - Heavy brown carpet thread or substitute

Body - Tan hare’s mask fur (obtained by blending all the colors of the mask) mixed with the reddish-yellow cream of red fox squirrel belly. (Body hairs should be picked out with a dubbing needle after fly is completed to make for a scraggly appearance.)

Hackle - Dark ginger dry fly hackle tied as a wet fly collar

REMARKS: This pattern is intended to be fished in fast or riffle water, hence the stiffer hackle collar. It is also tied with a dropper arrangement using the same pattern as the tail and the dropper fly. According to Dave Baker, who developed it, this pattern works exceptionally well during the Hendrickson hatch on the Delaware.
