* The separate tip and butt on this revised Black Dose dressing are both listed under the tip in the Trout written recipe, but the yellow floss is placed as a butt on the color plate painting.
**I sometimes tie this fly using light brown and dark brown turkey in the wing because they marry easier than brown mallard and turkey. Also, if desired, instead of trying to marry the dissimilar brown turkey and mallard, the turkey can be veiled separately above a mallard underwing as in this photo.
