Simple Dropper Loop

Some folks aren't too comfortable tying a dropper directly to the bend of the hook. Adding one in before tying you fly might be the way to go. Just tie in a simple mono loop to the top of the hook as shown below and then complete the fly per the recipe.

As always, thanks for looking.

This is a pretty neat idea...next batch of flies I tie, I'm going to try this out...

I fish tandem nymph and dry and dropper rigs a lot, so this is an interesting idea. Do you need to be concerned about the dropper tippet cutting through the loop? What size mono do you use for the loop and are any special knots recommended for tying to the loop?

i havent had any problems with the dropper/tippet

i wouldnt go below 6 lb test on the loop

i use a standard clinch knot when tying on the tippet (keeping it simple for my eyes and fingers)
