Author's Note

NOTE: Perhaps this is the first time you've heard of this salmon fly? Remember this name, because this fly will undoubtedly become a firm favorite on Quebec's salmon rivers. This fly is truly Quebecois; it originated on the Sainte-Anne River in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts in 1973. Its creator is none other than Shirley E. Woods.

Shirley is a world-renowned salmon fisherman who has fished countless salmon rivers both in Canada and abroad. The Roger's Fancy fly originated from the fact that guides on the Sainte-Anne River insisted that Shirley use salmon flies where green was the predominant color.

Shirley's imagination produced Roger's Fancy (this name was given in honor of her friend, Major General Roger Rowley)
