I ran out of jungle cock late last year when I tied the other pattern above. My bad.
I went through every black hackle I own looking for "black hackle with a green tinge" and nope. None!
I also prefer a "beard" style throat hackle. If YOU prefer a different method that's entirely up to YOU!

Dave Goulet owned a fly shop here in Connecticut and had the luxury of picking out the cream of the crop of tying materials. Most of us don't even have a local fly shop nearby.
